RECENSIONE/REVIEW : Antonio Giorgio's "GOLDEN METAL - The Quest for the Inner Glory" (2017- Andromeda Relix) Album d’esordio del compositore e musicista Antonio Giorgio che vuole essere l’inizio di un nuovo genere musicale (Golden Metal ) attingendo da sonorità metal classiche (heavy metal, power) fuse col progressive: Golden Metal – The Quest For The Inner Glory. Un compito certo non facile, dove suite per lo più rockeggianti si alternano a deliziosi spunti melodici di pianoforte o di chitarra classica, ed è il primo brano, Golden Metal, a definire l’impronta sonora, un accattivante crescendo ritmico sempre molto sostenuto che fa da sfondo alla voce vagamente diafana di Giorgio. Segue Lost & Lonely (Desperate Days) dal notevole impatto sonoro e The Vision, ancestrale e austera, introdotta da un organo quasi sinfonico che lascia spazio ad un bolero drammatico e carico di Pathos. The Calling, è una melodia introdotta da un pianoforte che sfocia in una tiratissima suite molto ritmata che esalta le capacità virtuosistiche del gruppo per salire di intensità con The Voice Of The Prophet. The Eternal Rebellion è un piccolo intermezzo che lascia il passo alla ben cadenzata Luminous Demons, una cavalcata heavy/power seguita dalla squisita melodia di chitarra classica di Keeper Of Truth che prelude un tiratissimo Rock/Heavy acido e trascinante. Poi un piccolo capolavoro, The Reaper, vero e proprio Metal/Prog ben strutturato che richiama sonorità blasonate dell’epoca aurea, e la esoterica atmosfera introdotta da un potente giro di basso alla Chris Squire di Forever We Are One. Segue Et In Arcadia Ego Suite: Part I -The Quickening (Golden Ages) Part II – Human Gods Part III – The Emerald Table (As Above So Below), un vero e proprio mini Concept Album di oltre 11 minuti all’interno dell’opera intera, e la conclusione con la soave chitarra classica di Luca Gagnoni quasi a sigillare e suggellare il messaggio musicale lanciato in tutto l’album. Insomma anche se non è tutto Gold ciò che luccica, questo Lp di proporzione epiche si ascolta molto volentieri anche pensando al grande lavoro svolto sia in termini compositivi che lirici dall’autore avellinese (oltre 1 ora di durata) e per il proposito convincente di aprire una nuova strada musicale pur non rompendo definitivamente con gli schemi classici dei generi originanti.

Composer and musician Antonio Giorgio's debut album, Golden Metal – The Quest For The Inner Glory, aims to usher in a new musical genre (Golden Metal), drawing on classic metal sounds (heavy metal, power metal) fused with progressive metal. This is no easy task, with mostly rock-inspired suites alternating with delightful melodic touches from piano or classical guitar. The first track, "Golden Metal," defines the sonic signature, a captivating, consistently sustained rhythmic crescendo that provides the backdrop for Giorgio's vaguely diaphanous voice. "Lost & Lonely (Desperate Days)" follows, with its remarkable sonic impact, and "The Vision," ancestral and austere, introduced by an almost symphonic organ that gives way to a dramatic and pathos-filled bolero. The Calling is a melody introduced by a piano that flows into a very tight, rhythmic suite that showcases the band's virtuosic abilities, before building in intensity with The Voice of the Prophet. The Eternal Rebellion is a short interlude that gives way to the well-paced "Luminous Demons," a heavy/powerful ride followed by the exquisite classical guitar melody of "Keeper of Truth," a prelude to a very tight, acidic, and driving rock/heavy track. Then comes a small masterpiece, "The Reaper," a true, well-structured metal/prog track that recalls the illustrious sounds of the golden age, and the esoteric atmosphere introduced by a powerful bass line à la Chris Squire from "Forever We Are One." This is followed by Et In Arcadia Ego Suite: Part I - The Quickening (Golden Ages) Part II – Human Gods Part III – The Emerald Table (As Above So Below), a true mini-concept album lasting over 11 minutes within the entire work, concluding with Luca Gagnoni's suave classical guitar, almost sealing and sealing the musical message conveyed throughout the album. In short, even if all that glitters isn't gold, this epic LP is a joy to listen to, especially considering the impressive compositional and lyrical work by the Avellino-born composer (over an hour long) and the compelling intention of blazing a new musical trail without definitively breaking with the classic patterns of the original genres.
