RECENSIONE/REVIEW : Antonio Giorgio "ETERNAL METAL _ Tales from the Twilight Zone" (2022- Epic Spirit/AUSR) Ci sono diversi modi per esprimere l’amore e la dedizione verso la musica e le band che si amano, che sono per noi fonte di ispirazione e che ci accompagnano nei giorni della nostra vita. Alcuni brani sono sempre presenti, altri si tornano a riscoprire, ed è certo sempre un piacere riascoltare quelle canzoni per noi così importanti. Antonio Giorgio, cantante power/heavy metal irpino, che si è già cimentato in diversi tributi in passato, torna a dimostrare il suo amore per la musica che ama pubblicando un album che contiene tributi a band e cantanti cult della scena internazionale quali Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Ozzy Osbourne, Ronnie James Dio, Candlemass, Yngwie Malmsteen, Alice Cooper, Fates Warning, Dream Theater, Savatage, Kamelot, Virgin Steele e Manowar, non solo heavy e power metal, ma diversi generi. Pubblicare un album di questo tipo porta con sé una serie di problematiche di ascolto, in quanto non tutti sono inclini ad accettare il tributo, e non di rado si va incontro a critiche. Le scuole di pensiero in questo ambito sono molteplici e spesso contrastanti, non si riesce pertanto a far contenti tutti. Nel particolare, quando si parla di tributi, si tende spesso ad essere abbastanza richiestivi, si tende spesso con facilità a giudicare un brano che amiamo, perché reinterpretato secondo la sfera dell’artista, che tende a metterci il suo. “Eternal Metal, Tales From the Twilight Zone” è composto da sedici brani, reinterpretati in base alle capacità tecniche del singer irpino, accompagnato da una band di tutto rispetto e dalle notevoli capacità tecniche, alcuni in maniera magistrale, tra cui spiccano sicuramente “House on a Hill”, dei Kamelot, che vede la partecipazione di Claudia Beltrame come voce femminile, o “Wait for Sleep” dei Dream Theater, altri risultano invece meno accattivanti in ambito vocale, e un po’ insipide tra queste “We Rock” dell’inarrivabile Ronnie James Dio o “Leather Rebel” dei Judas Priest, ma come detto anticipatamente la reinterpretazione di brani di questo livello può difficilmente mettere d’accordo tutti, ciò che si tocca, però, con mano è sicuramente la sua dedizione nei confronti del Metal più virtuoso, e la sua continua voglia di mettersi alla prova. Attendiamo pertanto di sentire nuovi brani di questo artista che si sta affermando nel panorama Heavy e Power col suo Golden Metal. Some songs are always present, others we rediscover, and it's always a pleasure to re-listen to those songs that are so important to us. Antonio Giorgio, a power/heavy metal singer from Irpinia, who has already dabbled in several tributes in the past, once again demonstrates his love for the music he loves by releasing an album featuring tributes to international cult bands and singers such as Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Ozzy Osbourne, Ronnie James Dio, Candlemass, Yngwie Malmsteen, Alice Cooper, Fates Warning, Dream Theater, Savatage, Kamelot, Virgin Steele, and Manowar—not just heavy and power metal, but across a variety of genres. Releasing an album of this kind brings with it a series of listening challenges, as not everyone is inclined to accept the tribute, and it often faces criticism. Schools of thought in this area are multiple and often conflicting, so it's impossible to please everyone. Specifically, when it comes to tributes, we often tend to be quite demanding, and we often tend to easily judge a song we love because it's been reinterpreted according to the artist's own style, who tends to put his own spin on it. “Eternal Metal, Tales From the Twilight Zone” is composed of sixteen songs, reinterpreted based on the technical skills of the singer from Irpinia, accompanied by a highly respectable band with notable technical skills, some masterfully, among which certainly stand out “House on a Hill” by Kamelot, which features Claudia Beltrame on female vocals, and “Wait for Sleep” by Dream Theater. Others are less captivating vocally, and a bit insipid, such as “We Rock” by the unrivaled Ronnie James Dio and “Leather Rebel” by Judas Priest. But as mentioned previously, reinterpretations of songs of this caliber are difficult to please everyone. What is evident, however, is certainly his dedication to the most virtuoso metal, and his constant desire to challenge himself. We therefore look forward to hearing new songs from this artist who is establishing himself in the Heavy and Power scene with his Golden Metal.
